Player Registration Rules

1.0 Insurance

1.1 Insurance-Membership fees for the players and officials are due to AMRHA (Alberta Major/Minor Roller Hockey Association) by the third Wednesday in May

1.2 Any player or official who has already paid for Insurance-Membership for the season either directly or indirectly to Roller Hockey Canada will not charged

1.3 Insurance is transferable within Roller Hockey Canada Leagues but registration is not.

 

2.0 Rules of Registration for AB Pro Roller Hockey League

2.1 The ABPRHL registrar position may be elected at the AGM or appointed by the ABPRHL Board of Directors. The Registrar will chair the registration standing committee and report directly to the board of directors for ABPRHL.

2.2 The registrar can appoint members to the registration standing committee to assist in handling the day to day activities concerning registrations and other duties that the board of directors, these directives, by-laws or rules may confer upon the registrar.

2.3 ABPRHL reserves the right to refuse registration of any individual

2.4 All players wishing to participate  in the ABPRHL, must register through the online registration system chosen by the board of directors. That registration system will be open and available until June 11th

2.5 Teams must send in their initial season roster (with player signatures) to the Vice-President seven (7) days prior to their first game. Players will not be eligible to participate until they have signed the teams roster sheet. Once a player has signed the teams roster sheet they will be carded and locked in with that club.

a)Any players appearing on multiple signed roster sheets will not be eligible to play until his name is removed from one of the teams rosters

2.6 The following player information  must be present on a teams roster sheet  (AB Pro roster sheets are available for download on the website)

  • first and last name
  • birth date
  • signature
  • date signed

2.7 If a player wishes to be released from a club they will need a written release with a signature from club management. The league registrar will sign off on the release form and a copy will be kept with the league records. Player release forms are available for download on the league website.

2.8 When released from a club players are free to join any team in the league, regardless of location

2.9 After the current league year has finished players have the ability to leave teams without requiring a release. A free-agent period will exist between September 1st of that season to March 1st of the next league year.  The only action required from that player will be to notify said club that they intend to play for another team in the following league year. If the free agent period passes and the player does not notify said club of their intentions it will be assumed that he is a returning player. At that point the player will need to seek a release from said club

2.10 If for any reason a player is not granted his release upon request. The Board of Directors will create a three person dispute resolution committee. Until that dispute is resolved the player is not eligible to participate with another team. The Committee will follow the appeals procedure under section 10.0

 

4.0 Residential Requirements and General Registration Rules

4.1 There are no boundary restrictions for clubs within AB Pro Roller Hockey League.

4.2 Insurance is transferable within Roller Hockey Canada Leagues but registration is not. No player shall participate in any game or practice before that player is registered with ABPRHL.

4.3 As of April 1st member clubs will be charged that season’s insurance rate for 14 players. If any of those registered players have paid for insurance in another Roller Hockey Canada member league the ABPRHL Club will be reimbursed. Reimbursement will occur after the Team Roster cutoff on June 10th. Players registration and insurance fees will not be designated to that club until that player has been signed to the clubs roster sheet.

 

6.0 Team Rosters

6.1  Prior to their first game teams must send in their initial season roster (with player signatures) to the Vice-President. Players will not be eligible to participate until they have signed the teams roster sheet. Once a player has signed the teams roster sheet they will be carded and locked in with that club. Teams should continue to use the same roster sheet adding and subtracting players as the season progresses. Any players appearing on multiple signed roster sheets will not be eligible to play until his name is removed from one of the teams rosters

6.2  The following player information must be present on a teams roster sheet. Roster sheets are available for download on the website

  • first and last name
  • birth date
  • signature

6.3  Team rosters must be cut down to 24 players by June 10th.

a) Players who do not appear on those rosters are no longer eligible to play that season.

b) Emergency Goalie affiliation does not count against your roster and is allowed after June 10th. Once approved by the league vice-president

6.4 Game day rosters must be set 24 hours prior to your game. A list in excel format of no more than 18 skaters and 2 goalies shall be emailed to the league Vice-President. The lists will then be forwarded to the official scorekeeper for that game as well as the home team for production of programs

6.5 Teams game day rosters should designate a first aid certified individual with the following symbol (FA)

6.6 Players are only eligible to play in the ABPRHL with no age restrictions if they turn 18 during the same calendar year as the current season.

6.7 Clubs will be allowed to carry up to three underage players on their roster in a season. Players are considered underage if they turn 17 during the same calendar year as the current season.
